Scope: Proprietary internal design tooling—designing in React + React Native against real customer data, content metadata, and translation IDs—used daily by 1,000+ product and content designers.
Responsibility: Designed core tooling surfaces, ran the design-class curriculum that onboarded the org, and partnered with engineering to close the design-to-build entropy gap.

Context

Designing in high fidelity doesn't guarantee the end product ships at the same level of detail. Entropy—loss of information—accumulates between design and engineering because the "languages" the two disciplines use differ, and with a 1,000+ person design org and Meta's design-system surface area, that entropy gap was the dominant source of quality loss. The internal design tool was built to close it—letting designers work with real React components, real customer data, and content metadata including translation IDs.

Approach

Built proprietary tooling that let designers work in React and React Native against real customer data, content metadata, and translation IDs—so designers and engineers shared the highest-fidelity source of truth instead of translating between Figma and code. Shipped designing-in-React, designing-in-React-Native, real-content composition, prototype previews, and content governance tools. Ran a parallel curriculum of design classes and workshops to onboard the org.

Impact

Used daily by 1,000+ product and content designers. Closed the design-to-engineering entropy gap on the surfaces it touched, with shipped output matching the prototype at unprecedented fidelity for the org.
